Palm Beach Gardens, FL (August 8, 2023) - Elpida Equestrian is proud to announce the newest mount for 16-year-old show jumper Athena Lekkas, the 8-year-old Dutch-bred mare Picobella De Pot (I'm Special De Muze x Lotus x Elmshorn). The newly matched pair have their sights set on the World Equestrian Center Ocala's final August show next week under the tutelage of Carlo Graziani of Graziani Performance horses.

The mare's sire, I'm Special De Muze, won the Sires in Den Bosch with Zoi Snels, the 1.50m class in Neumunster, and became 9th in the 3* GP in Herning. I’m Special is proving himself as a sire as well, becoming the leader of the 2021 Horsetelex E-ranking. Next to that, his offspring are performing very successfully in the young horse classes among which; Claude Monet (Jerome Guery & Cian O’ Connor), Mr. Jones (Daniel Deusser) and I’m Special Gold (Jos Verlooy).

Coming off an injury that took her out of the 2023 winter season in Wellington, Lekkas and her family have been searching for her next mount for the past few months. Thanks to the combined efforts of a team based in Loxahatchee Groves, Florida, Picobella, or Bella as she is known around the barn, are now solidifying their partnership and building on the basics with the short term goal of competing during the 2024 WEF season.

The Lekkas family would like to thank Roberto Daza of Daza Stables for representing such a nice mare, to Dr. Alexander Daniel of Daniel Equine, and to Athena's trainer Carlo Graziani of Graziani Performance Horses for working tirelessly trying horses to find the perfect fit!

Elpida comes from the ancient Greek word ἐλπίς (elpis) – the personification and spirit of hope in Greek mythology

Inspired by her own Greek and Puerto Rican heritage, as well as her passion for show jumping, Athena Lekkas competes under her brand, Elpida Equestrian. As a 16-year-old rising junior at The Benjamin School, Lekkas is a determined rider whose goal is to ride at the Grand Prix level. Her newly acquired competition mount, Picobella De Pot, is a Dutch-bred Warmblood mare by I'm Special De Muze, out of Lotus by Elmshorn. Athena and Picobella are aiming to accomplish her Grand Prix goal under the tutelage of Carlo Graziani of Graziani Performance Horses.
