Best Seat in the House: Elpida Equestrian Rides in Arion Horse Sport Tack
Palm Beach Gardens, FL (October 7, 2022) - Athena Lekkas of Elpida Equestrian officially has the best seat in the house, or at least in the arena, in her custom crafted Arion Horse Sport Tack Jumper Saddle. An avid competitor in the 1.15M-1.20M jumper divisions, Lekkas and her Belgian Warmblood gelding, Karthago Di Cabra, decided to try Arion's saddles early this summer as part of an elevation of their entire equestrian repertoire as they compete at Wellington International, World Equestrian Center (WEC) Ocala, and prepare for the 2023 winter equestrian season in Florida.
Designed for close contact, custom rider comfort, and unrestricted locomotion for the horse, Arion's jumper saddles made an immediate impression on Lekkas. "As soon as I swung into the saddle I immediately noticed a big difference between the Arion trial saddle and what I have been riding in," said Lekkas. "The seat allows me to sit deeper into the saddle when I want to, like when we are collecting or half-halting before a fence, and I can feel more of Karthago's movements. Now that I'm riding in my new saddle that has been fit for both of us, the close contact is even better and I'm amazed at how it works with us as we flat and school over fences."
Each Arion jumper saddle has one of three levels of seat: deep, half deep, and flat. Lekkas' Arion features the deep seat, which while deeper than a typical jumper saddle, still allows the rider the flexibility and motion through the twist to raise into the 2-point and half-seat of the jumpers while also providing closer contact to the horse. In addition, Lekkas' new saddle also included accent details that set the saddle apart from others she has purchased in the past. A beautiful pillowed saddle pad, woven ear bonnet, leather cleaning pouch and conditioning kit, blue piping accents, and an engraved silver name plate were added bonuses to the Arion partnership.
"It really is a beautiful saddle," said Lekkas, "and our fitter went out of his way to make sure the entire experience was perfect for myself and Karthago. The gorgeous accents, branded materials, and name plate were an amazing surprise!"

Elpida comes from the ancient Greek word ἐλπίς (elpis) – the personification and spirit of hope in Greek mythology
Inspired by her own Greek and Puerto Rican heritage, as well as her passion for show jumping, Athena Lekkas competes under her brand, Elpida Equestrian. As a 16-year-old sophomore at The Benjamin School, Lekkas is a determined rider whose goal is to ride at the Grand Prix level. Her main competition mount, Karthago Di Cabra, is a 17.3h Belgian Warmblood gelding. A stunning golden chestnut, Karthago’s scope and presence have helped Athena move closer to her goal and the pair are currently jumping through the 1.25M division under the tutelage of Ashley Glica of ATG Equestrian.
